What Amitabh Bachchan & Abhishek Bachchan Ordered At Matunga's Cafe Madras - Benne Dosa, Dahi Misal, Idli & More (EXCLUSIVE)

It was around 9 pm last night when Devavrat Kamath (45), who was at the cash counter at his family-owned Cafe Madras near King's Circle garden, received a call from someone saying that superstar Amitabh Bachchan (82) and his actor-son Abhishek (48) would be dropping in at the 84 year-old Udipi-style vegetarian restaurant. 

He was informed that the duo had gone to watch Abhishek Sharma's stunning knock in the T20I match against England at the Wankhede's and on their way back home at Juhu they will take a detour and come to his restaurant. Till they actually landed at his cafe with a big retinue of 16 security personnel Kamath could not believe that the celebrities are actually going to patronise the restaurant founded by his grandfather. 

In the past, celebs like Raj Kapoor, Dhirubhai Ambani, and P Chidambaram, all have all snacked at his place. But then the Bachchans are in a different league altogether. 

What did the Bachchans order?

So what exactly did the Bachhans eat? Well they nibbled at several dishes, including the newly-introduced benne dosa, ragi dosa, rava dosa, tuppa dosa, dahi misal, idli with 'molagapodi' (a dry chutney made of red chillies, white urad dal and salt) aka gunpowder mixed with sesame oil, set dosa and medu wada.

The actors washed them down with hot South Indian filter `kaapi' (coffee) served in stainless steel `dabra' and tumbler. They were in praise for all the dishes, but they particularly liked the benne dosa served with sambar and coconut chutney. "Bacchan Sir told me that he found the food very light," a beaming Kamath told The Free Press Journal on Monday (February 3). 

Cafe Madras is one of the many Udipi eateries for which Matunga is justly famous for. Nearby, Cafe Mysore recently catered to one of the many events related to the Ambani wedding at Antilia.
