Malaika Arora's Stepfather Anil Mehta Dies By Suicide After Jumping Off Mumbai Building, Arbaaz Khan Arrives At Spot; Visuals Surface
Anil Mehta reportedly jumped off the terrace and he breathed his last on September 11

Bollywood actresses Malaika Arora and Amrita Arora's stepfather Anil Mehta passed away on Wednesday (September 11). He reportedly died by suicide at his residence in Bandra, Mumbai.
According to ANI, Mehta jumped off the terrace around 9 am today. His body has been taken for post-mortem. Visuals from outside their residence show Malaika's ex-husband, actor-producer Arbaaz Khan, along with a few cops. He was the first ones to reach Arora's residence. Arbaaz's sister Alvira Agnihotri also reached the spot.
Reportedly, the matter is still under investigation. At present, no suicide note has been found.
Malaika was in Pune for a work commitment when the incident took place.
Malaika's parents divorced when she was 11 years old. Anil Mehta worked in the Indian Merchant Navy.
He often stayed away from the limelight and was known to be a private individual. Malika's father was a Punjabi Hindu from the Indian border town of Fazilka. The actress' mother, Joyce Polycarp, is a Malayali Christian.
Neither Malaika nor Amrita has reacted to the shocking news yet. While Malaika lives alone in Bandra after separation with Arbaaz, Amrita stays with her husband.
Opening up about her parents' divorce, Malaika had said in an earlier interview, "I had a wonderful childhood, but it wasn't easy. In fact, in retrospect, the word I would use to describe it is tumultuous. But tough times teach you important lessons too. My parents' separation allowed me to observe my mother through a new and unique lens. I learned a rock-steady work ethic and the value of getting up each morning to do whatever it takes to become fiercely independent."
