Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi 2: Netizens Upset Over Excessive Use Of Body Double For Smriti Irani, Call It 'Annoying & Unnatural'

The reboot of Ektaa Kapoor's cult show, Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi, kickstarted with a bang as it topped the TRP chart in its first week itself, dethroning Anupamaa. The return of actress-turned-politician Smriti Irani to the small screen sent fans into a tizzy, but she is now turning out to be the reason of viewers' disappointment.

In the recent epsodes, the makers can be seen having used a body double for Smriti for most of her scenes with the Virani family. Along with that, the scenes featuring Smriti's face, are mostly comprised of close-up shots, making it quite evident that she has not been shooting with the rest of the cast.

These details did not go unnoticed by fans of Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi 2, and they complained on social media how the excessive use of body-doubles looks rather unserious and unnatural.

Fans react to makers using Smriti Irani's body-double

"I cannot understand the purpose of extensively using body doubles for every scene Tulsi does. It really looks unnatural. I could have expected this from the mid season like after 60-70 episodes but now this is too early. Her scenes are often coming off as unnatural and disconnected (sic)," a netizen wrote on Reddit.

Another commented, "I don't get why they had to make the show if lead wasn't interested and didn't have the time or may be because the show has not hit it off in trps as was expected they might be using body doubles to save on cost by not calling Smriti to sets everyday (sic)."

Netizens also wondered if the makers were using body-doubles to cut down on production cost, as Smriti is already charging Rs 14 lakh per episode for Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi 2.

The makers are yet to react to the criticism. It will now be interesting to see if the show will retain its top position on the TRP chart this Thursday as well.

The show has also introduced new cast members including Rohit Suchanti, Shagun Sharma, Aman Gandhi and Tanisha Mehta in key roles.
