'Kitna Jhootha Hai': Anurag Kashyap Slams Vivek Agnihotri For Calling Him 'Drunkard Who Palmed Off Work To Vikramaditya Motwane' During Goal
Anurag Kashyap reacted strongly to director Vivek Ranjan Agnihotri's recent remarks, where he referred to Kashyap as a 'drunkard' and accused him of creating problems during the shoot of Dhan Dhana Dhan Goal. The 2007 sports drama, which starred John Abraham, Arshad Warsi, and Bipasha Basu, was directed by Agnihotri and written by Kashyap along with Rohit Malhotra and Vikramaditya Motwane

Filmmaker Anurag Kashyap hit back at director Vivek Ranjan Agnihotri after the latter called him a 'drunkard' and accused him of causing trouble during the shoot of Dhan Dhana Dhan Goal. The 2007 film, starring John Abraham, Arshad Warsi and Bipasha Basu was directed by Vivek. It was written by Anurag, Rohit Malhotra and Vikramaditya Motwane.
During one of his interviews with Digital Commentary, Vivek recalled shooting Goal and said, "Anurag was a heavy drinker back then, and he couldn't be trusted. He brought Vikram on board, who is a very talented guy. He told me, 'Mera naya ladka hai woh kaam karega'."
"Gradually, he palmed off all the work to Vikram. But they had a different vision for the film, which didn’t match with mine. Ultimately, we were at loggerheads. The production house had a word with Anurag… He became difficult to handle, because only an alcoholic knows what an alcoholic goes through. It became a very big problem," Vivek said during the interview.
However, soon after the interview went viral, Anurag lashed out at Vivek and called him a liar.
Taking to his Instagram story on Wednesday, Anurag wrote, "Kitna jhootha hai ye aadmi. Shooting London mein hui thi. I was in India. He didn't want the script by Motwane or me. He wanted to make Lagaan of football and took his own writer to write that crappy script. Neither me nor @motwayne went on the set ever. Stop posturing."
Vivek has not reacted to Anurag's post yet.
It may be mentioned that in recent interviews, Anurag revealed that he no longer consumes alcohol. Speaking at an event at Annapurna College of Film and Media, he shared, "There was a time when I was dealing with a lot in the industry, and during that phase, I became an alcoholic for a brief period. I struggled with addiction and eventually checked into a de-addiction centre. It was after that experience that I discovered new insights into my writing process."
