Bollywood actress Kangana Ranaut is officially crossing over to Hollywood, landing her first leading role in the upcoming horror drama Blessed Be The Evil. The project, backed by US-based production company Lions Movies, will star Kangana alongside Teen Wolf actor Tyler Posey and Scarlet Rose Stallone, daughter of Hollywood icon Sylvester Stallone, who was most recently seen in Tulsa King.
According to a report in Variety, the film is set to begin production this summer in New York. Producers revealed that the team deliberately selected US locations to "avoid running into any uncertainties stemming from the recently announced Trump industry tariffs."
Plot of Blessed Be The Evil
Directed by Anurag Rudra, who also co-wrote the script with Gatha Tiwary (president and founder of Lions Movies), Blessed Be The Evil is a psychological horror that explores grief, faith, and the supernatural.
The report further stated that according to the official synopsis, the story centers on a Christian couple grappling with the trauma of a miscarriage. In search of a new beginning, they purchase an abandoned farm with a dark and sinister history, only to have their love and belief system tested by a malevolent force.
Sharing the inspiration behind the story, Anurag said, "Being born and spending my childhood in rural India, I was told stories that got embedded in my mind and heart. This folklore was so special that I truly believed in all the stories, and wanted to showcase them internationally through the art of cinema – the strongest and most beautiful way to connect to dreams and reality."
The announcement has already sparked buzz across social media, with fans excited to see the four-time National Award-winning actress bring her talent to the global stage. However, the actress has not reacted to the report yet.
Kangana was last seen in her pet project, Emergency, which also marked her directorial debut. In the film, she played the role of late Prime Minister of India, Indira Gandhi, and it also starred Anupam Kher, Satish Kaushik, Mahima Chaudry, Shreyas Talpade, Milind Soman, and others in key roles.
