Bollywood actress Janhvi Kapoor faced severe backlash and was trolled online after chanting "Bharat Mata Ki Jai" at a Dahi Handi event in Ghatkopar, Mumbai, on Saturday (August 16). Netizens mocked her, claiming she had confused the occasion with Independence Day. After facing criticism, Janhvi has now responded, and addressed the online outrage.

The actress took to her Instagram story on Sunday (August 17), showing that BJP MLA Ram Kadam had chanted "Bharat Mata Ki Jai" first, and she was merely responding. However, her part was cut and circulated, going viral online. She wrote, "Unke bolne ke baad nahi bolti toh problem, aur bolo toh bhi video ko kaat ke meme material. Waise sirf Janmashtami nahi, roz bolungi Bharat Mata ki jai."
