'I Used To Scold Him': Aamir Khan Opens Up On Son Junaid Khan's Dyslexia, Recalls Being Hard On Him
Actor Aamir Khan opened up on his son Junaid Khan being diagnosed with dyslexia when he was young, at an event in Mumbai. "I used to scold him. He couldn’t read properly. So I used to try to explain things to him, and I would get confused too — how can he not understand such simple things?," he shared.

Bollywood's Mr Perfectionist, Aamir Khan, opened up on his son Junaid Khan being diagnosed with dyslexia when he was young, at a fan event in Mumbai on Monday. Drawing comparisons with his own film, Taare Zameen Par, Aamir stated that he was that harsh father in real life for Junaid, until they learnt about his condition.
"I was like Nandkishore Awasthi in the beginning (the father from Taare Zameen Par). I used to scold Junaid," Aamir shared. He added that he never spoke about Junaid's condition in the past as he wanted to respect his son's privacy.
"He couldn’t read properly. So I used to try to explain things to him, and I would get confused too — how can he not understand such simple things? Then, later on, we found out he has dyslexia. And of course, we helped him with that," Aamir added.
Recalling the moment he heard the script of Taare Zameen Par, the actor said, "When I heard the story, it felt like my story. It was so close to me."
During the promotions of Loveyapa, Junaid had revealed that he was diagnosed with dyslexia as a child, and how his parents Aamir and Reena Dutta were extremely supportive of him.
