Veteran actor Shivaji Satam has finally addressed the swirling rumours about his alleged departure from CID, the iconic crime series where he has portrayed ACP Pradyuman since 1998. Speculation had been rife that the makers planned to write off his character, especially with the show now streaming on Netflix.

Speaking to Mid-Day on Friday (April 4), Satam, who is currently on a vacation, dismissed any knowledge of such developments. "I am personally not aware if the character will be exiting the show or not. Currently, I am enjoying a nice long holiday and have not been informed about any future shooting for CID," he said.

The actor further clarified that any official updates about the series would come from Sony, as the show remains their property.

On Thursday, it was reported that Satam bidding farewell to the long-running series. A report in India Today stated that upcoming episodes will witness a tragic twist that sees Pradyuman's character's death. The came as a major shocker for fans of the actor as well as the show.

The report further mentioned that the storyline will revolve around Barbosa, the notorious leader of the Eye Gang, played by veteran actor Tigmanshu Dhulia, planting a deadly bomb to target the CID team. While the rest of the team manages to survive, ACP Pradyuman succumbs to the explosion.

While several characters in the past have made a comeback after being killed off, it has been reported that the makers currently have no plans to revive ACP Pradyuman, though that could change depending on audience response.

ACP Pradyuman has been the face of the show for over two decades. His signature lines, "Daya, darwaza tod do," and "Kuch toh gadbad hai" remain Indian television's most iconic dialogues.

Alongside Satam, the series stars Dayanand Shetty as Inspector Daya and Aditya Srivastava as Inspector Abhijeet in pivotal roles.

CID was re-launched earlier this year and is currently streaming on Netflix. The franchise has also expanded into an animated series titled CID Squad – Naye Yug Ka Naya CID.
