Actor Gaurav Khanna won hearts as Anuj Kapadia in the hit television serial Anupamaa, a role that remains one of his most iconic to date. In 2024, the actor confirmed his exit after the show's new leap was announced. However, five months later, Gaurav has teased a possible comeback, saying that Anuj, for him, is "a comma, not a full stop."
The actor told Pinkvilla, "Rajan (Shahi) ne abhi character ko maara nahi hai, just that story mein space nahi hain. Lekin yeh Indian television hai, jab Mihir (character from Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi) zinda ho sakta hai, aise bohot saare examples hai. Lekin uska yeh matlab nahi mein wapas aa raha hoon, but never say never! It's a comma, but line has moved forward."
Further, Gaurav said, "It is one of my most cherished characters, but every show has a texture. Abhi unke show ka texture alag hai."
Gaurav revealed that it took him just five minutes to say yes when Rajan Shahi narrated Anuj’s character to him, adding that he and Anuj are quite similar in real life.
The actor shared that Anupamaa producer was advised not to cast him as Anuj. He added, "I wanted to prove to myself that I can do it. Secondly, I wanted to prove it to Rajan sir because he had faith in me. Many people told him, 'Why are you taking him? Take someone else; there are bigger, better names. Your show is so big.' Many people said this to him."
Gaurav, who was last seen in the cooking-based reality show, Celebrity MasterChef India, won the show and bagged Rs 20 lakh.
Recently, he faced backlash after netizens claimed that Gaurav had copied a Swiss Chef's dessert
