As the industry reels from the unexpected loss of Shefali Jariwala, an exclusive interview she gave to The Free Press Journal in December 2024 offers a poignant glimpse into her mindset, aspirations, and self-reflection just months before her passing.

Best known for her breakout in the music video Kaanta Laga, Shefali had long moved beyond the "item girl" label. In her final interview, she reflected on the evolution of her career, her growth as an individual, and her plans for a bright 2025. "My life after Kaanta Laga has been nothing less than a fairy tale," she said. "A simple middle-class Gujarati girl turned into an overnight national sensation. That was my calling, my life path."

Shefali was candid about the changes she experienced personally, especially over the past year. "I’ve learned that reacting to everything is not necessary. Self-control is strength," she shared, adding that the balance of personal peace and professional passion had become her greatest success.

At the time, Shefali was excited about upcoming roles in three web shows and had recently wrapped up her first television series. "People have started seeing beyond my glamorous image," she said, proud of the complex characters she was finally being offered.

Her appearance on Bigg Boss 13 had also been a turning point. "Fame came much earlier in my life, but Bigg Boss let me show my real self," she said. "It gave me back my confidence."

Shefali’s sense of humour and grounded nature remained intact. When asked about paparazzi culture, she replied with a laugh, "I’m comfortable with my body and dress appropriately, so there’s no conflict. If anything goes wrong, I trust the media to watch my back."

Her final reflection was heartfelt and deeply human. "I’ve started to pace myself,” she said. “Not everything needs to happen fast. Living joyfully and mindfully — that’s something to be proud of."

In her own words, Shefali Jariwala found peace in authenticity, strength in self-awareness, and joy in simply being who she was. And that’s how she will be remembered — a grounded, graceful woman who lit up every space she entered.
