Disha Vakani Ties Rakhi To Asit Modi Amid Rumours Daya Ben's Return On Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah - VIDEO

Actress Disha Vakani, best known for playing Daya Ben on the hit sitcom, Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah, made a rare appearance as she tied rakhi to TMKOC producer Asit Modi on the occasion of Raksha Bandhan on Saturday. On Sunday, Modi shared a video with Disha and sent fans into a tizzy.

Disha's appearance with Modi came amidst reports of the character of Daya Ben making a return on TMKOC. While it is not confirmed if Disha will return to the show, reports said that the makers have launched a hunt for the new Daya.

In the video shared by Modi, Disha can be seen tying rakhi to the showrunner, performing his aarti and touching his feet. "Some relationships are woven by destiny... they’re not of blood, but of the heart! (sic)," Modi wrote in an emotional post along with the video.

He further continued, "#DishaVakani is not just our ‘Daya Bhabhi’, but my sister. Over the years, sharing laughter, memories, and warmth, this bond has grown far beyond the screen. This Rakhi, I felt that same unbreakable trust and deep affection once again... May this bond always remain with the same sweetness and strength (sic)."

As soon as the video went viral, netizens were overjoyed seeing their favourite Daya Ben, and they urged her to return to TMKOC. "Character for the ages! She's irreplaceable," a fan commented, while another wrote, "Please come back Disha, missing your presence."

While Disha has reportedly stepped away from acting for good to focus on her family, time and again reports keep doing the rounds about her return. She has not addressed the mystery yet.

Disha had been a part of TMKOC since its inception in 2008. In 2017, she went on a maternity break, however, she never returned to the sets again. Despite it being eight years now, fans are still waiting for her comeback, but that seems to be a distant dream now.

Meanwhile, Disha married a Mumbai-based chartered accountant named Mayur Padia in 2015, and in 2017, they welcomed their first child -- a baby girl. In 2022, the couple was blessed with their second child -- this time a son.
