Television actor Shoaib Ibrahim has given a major update on his wife and actress Dipika Kakar's health after her stage 2 liver cancer diagnosis. The actress underwent a critical 14-hour-long surgery on June 3, and according to Shoaib, she is now out of the ICU and recovering. Dipika Kakar out of ICU

Shoaib shared that Dipika was shifted out of the ICU just a day before Eid Al Adha or Bakri Eid.

In the video, he is heard saying, "Tomorrow is Eid Al Adha and today on such an auspicious day Dipika is out of the ICU. I am grateful that she is out of the ICU and she is with us. She will be here for a few days as the surgery was major, she was in the OT for 14 hours."

Shoaib recalls Dipika's 14-hour surgery and moments of panic

Shoaib recalled how Dipika was taken into surgery at 8:30 am and only came out of the operation theatre at 11:30 pm.

"We all were tensed as doctors had mentioned it would be a long surgery... At 6-7 pm, we all panicked as there was no update from the OT as we had never witnessed such a serious surgery. Thankfully, the doctor had assured me that if they don’t come out for updates, then the surgery is going fine and she will be all well," the actor said.

Gallbladder removed during operation

Shoiab said that during Dipika's surgery, doctors discovered additional complications. "The doctors even removed Dipika's gallbladder as they detected stone and they had to cut a small portion of the liver as the tumour was cancerous. The doctors mentioned that the liver is a self-restorative organ so it shall heal itself with time. So it is not something to be stressed about but we have to stay cautious and take good care," Shoaib added.

The actress is now recovering in the hospital under medical supervision.

On May 28, Dipika had revealed her cancer diagnosis in an Instagram post. She wrote, "As you all are aware last few weeks have been quite difficult for us... walking into the hospital for a pain in the upper area of my stomach... and then finding out its a tennis ball size tumour in the liver and then Finding out that the tumour is Second stage Malignant (Cancerous) ... it has been one of the most difficult time we have seen, experienced!"

On their YouTube vlog, the actress revealed that doctors assured them that she would be cured after the tumour was surgically removed.

Meanwhile, on the work front, Dipika made her television comeback with her stint on the cooking-based show Celebrity MasterChef after a four-year hiatus. However, her journey was cut short as she was forced to leave the show due to her shoulder injury.

Dipika and Shoaib met each other on the sets of Sasural Simar Ka and fell in love.
