At WAVES 2025, Kareena Kapoor Khan recalled a memorable moment when renowned American filmmaker Steven Spielberg praised her performance in 3 Idiots, saying he loved the film. "I didn’t have to act in an English film for him to have seen 3 Idiots. That, I think, was a special moment for us," Kareena said, highlighting Indian cinema’s global reach.

Bollywood actress Kareena Kapoor Khan attended Day Two of the inaugural World Audio Visual and Entertainment Summit (WAVES) 2025 in Bandra, Mumbai, where she was part of the Cinema: The Soft Power panel alongside Telugu actor Vijay Deverakonda, with Karan Johar serving as the moderator. During the session, Kareena recalled how renowned American filmmaker Steven Spielberg, known for directing films like The Terminal and Jurassic Park, praised her performance in 3 Idiots.
Kareena said, "Steven (Spielberg) was eating at the same restaurant. This was many years ago—3 Idiots had just been released. He actually came up to me and said, 'You're the girl from that very famous Indian film about the three students.' I said, 'Yes, that's me.' And he said, 'My God, I love that movie!' So, you know, I didn’t have to act in an English film for him to have seen 3 Idiots. That, I think, was a special moment for us."
