Bhool Chuk Maaf Trailer Review: Humour In Rajkummar Rao & Wamiqa Gabbi's Film Feels Forced, Doesn't Offer Any Major Laughs
Bhool Chuk Maaf attempts to mix romance and comedy with a dash of cosmic intervention, but the trailer leaves you slightly conflicted about what to expect. While the plot idea feels familiar (and reminiscent of several time-loop films), it could have worked with tighter writing and a sharper comic edge - neither of which are strongly evident in the trailer

The trailer of Bhool Chuk Maaf, starring Rajkummar Rao and Wamiqa Gabbi, promises a quirky take on love, chaos, and second chances - all wrapped in a time-loop twist. Set in the vibrant lanes of Varanasi, the film attempts to mix romance and comedy with a dash of cosmic intervention, but the trailer leaves you slightly conflicted about what to expect.
Rajkummar plays Ranjan, a hopeless romantic with a predictable goal - get a secure government job to impress the love of his life, Titli, played by Wamiqa. But just when everything seems perfect, Ranjan's dream wedding day spirals into an uncontrollable mess, repeating itself over and over again.
While the plot idea feels familiar (and reminiscent of several time-loop films), it could have worked with tighter writing and a sharper comic edge - neither of which are strongly evident in the trailer.
Rajkummar, known for his nuanced performances, fits the small-town, middle-class lover role with ease. He brings his usual charm, but his chemistry with Wamiqa doesn't quite spark.
Despite Wamiqa's proven acting prowess, she seems underutilised here, with her character lacking depth or standout moments in the trailer. The supporting cast seems promising but remains largely in the background for now.
The humour feels a bit forced and leans heavily on repetition, which might tire audiences unless the screenplay offers enough variety and emotional pull. The film seems to aim for a feel-good vibe, but the trailer doesn't offer any major laughs or moments that truly stand out.
On the technical front, the background score adds a lively tone to the chaos, though it's mostly composed of retro songs and old Bollywood tracks. The cinematography captures the spirit of Varanasi well, giving the film a rooted and colourful setting.
Karan Sharma, who has both written and directed the film, seems to have a clear vision, but how well it translates on screen remains to be seen when the film releases. For now, Bhool Chuk Maaf looks like a well-intentioned rom-com with a chaotic twist, decent casting, and a story that may need more punch to leave a lasting impact.
Also starring Sanjay Mishra, Seema Pahwa, Zakir Hussain, Raghubir Yadav, Ishtiyak Khan, and Anubha Fatehpuria, the film is all set to hit the big screens on May 9.
