Superstar Shah Rukh Khan finally won the National Award after his 33-year-long journey in Bollywood. He was awarded the National Award for Best Actor for his 2023 film, Jawan, and while the entire country rejoiced, some stated that the film did not deserve the prestigious award.

Reacting to the criticism, YouTuber and content creator Ashish Chanchlani took to his X handle on Monday, and wrote, "Will never understand this forced “hatred” for #Jawan. It's my most fav srk film after chak de. It was entertaining and was also beautifully shot (sic)," he wrote, defending the film.

While some agreed to it, other netizens said that while Jawan was good, SRK should have won a National Award for some of his most critically acclaimed films in the past.

"It's very easy to understand that no one is hating Jawan but they are perplexed by the selection of SRK as getting the best actor for this. There were numerous movies where the acting level was 100x than this. Indeed, It was a great mass masala entertainer film (sic)," a user explained.

"There is no hate. People are just saying that SRK did not deserve a national award for that film. There were many better performances last year (sic)," another netizen wrote.

SRK's award-winning speech

SRK shared the National Award for Best Actor with Vikrant Massey, who won it for the 2023 film, 12th Fail. After the announcement was made, Shah Rukh took to his social media and shared a heartfelt thank you message for his family, colleagues and fans, and while at it, he was seen with his arm in a sling.

"Namashkar and Adaab. Needless to say, I am overwhelmed with gratitude, pride and humility. To be honoured with a National Award is a moment that I will cherish for a lifetime," he said.

"A National Award is not just about achievement. It's a reminder that what I do, matters. It tells me to keep going, keep working hard, keep creating and keep serving cinema. In a world full of noise - to be heard, to be truly heard -is a blessing. And I promise to you to use the recognition not as a finish line, but as a fuel to continue striving, learning and giving back," he added.
