Annu Kapoor's Hamare Baarah Crew Receives Rape & Death Threats, Lodge Complaint At Mumbai Police Station
Hamare Baarah is scheduled to release on June 7, 2024.

The stars and crew of the Annu Kapoor starrer 'Hamare Barah' are receiving death and rape threats. The makers and the cast lodged a complaint at the Versova Police Station after the film's cast and crew received continuous death and rape threats via social media from unknown individuals. The complaint was filed on May 24.
The crew released a statement, which stated, "While the film is receiving critical acclaim for its storyline and message, the film's cast and producers have become the target of online threats. The actresses involved in the film have received horrifying messages, including rape and murder threats. In a bold move to address these concerns, producer Ravi S. Gupta, actor Rahul Bagga, writer Suffi Khan, and the actresses Aditi Bhatpahri, Ishlin Prasad, Neha Varshney, and Muskaan Varshney filed a formal complaint at Versova station, highlighting the severity of the situation."

The statement further added, "The much-anticipated film 'Hamare Barah' has found itself embroiled in controversy ahead of its release. Despite receiving accolades at the prestigious Cannes Film Festival, the film has been under a controversial spotlight since its announcement. The film sheds light on the injustices faced by women in a Muslim-dominated village, mirroring societal issues prevalent in various communities."

The film also premiered at the 77th Cannes Film Festival. It is directed by Ravi S. Gupta and stars Annu Kapoor along with Ashwini Kalsekar, Manoj Joshi, Abhimanyu Singh, Parth Samthaan, Paritosh Tripathi, Rohitash Sardar, Aditi Bhatpahri, and Ishlin Prasad.
'Hamare Barah' is jointly produced by Birender Bhagat, Ravi S. Gupta, Sanjay Nagpal, and Sheo Balak Singh, while Triloki Nath Prasad serves as co-producer and Kamal Chandra directs the film. The story is penned by Rajan Agarwal, with Ajendra Ajay serving as the creative director. 'Hamare Barah' is scheduled for release on June 7, 2024.
Earlier, the film was titled 'Hum Do Humare Baraah', however, the makers retitled it as per the directive of the Censor Board. It is now known as 'Hamare Barah'.
Ganesh Pawar, Senior Police Inspector of Versova Police, stated that since the film's production house falls within the jurisdiction of the Versova Police Station, they registered a complaint there. The police said they are investigating the complaint before registering an FIR.
