Aishwarya Rai Bachchan Flaunts Bhagavad Gita Verse On Her Custom Cape At Cannes 2025 - Here's What It Means (VIDEO)
Aishwarya Rai Bachchan opted for a dazzling black gown with a cape-shawl for her second look at Cannes Film Festival on Thursday. The highlight of her look was that her custom cape had a verse from the Bhagavad Gita embroidered on it in the back. Aishwarya had sported a thick layer of sindoor for her first Cannes 2025 look.

Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, dubbed as the 'Queen of Cannes', is busy serving looks at the French Riviera, and this year, the actress has chosen to not shy away from making some desi statements on the red carpet. After rocking a sindoor look at Cannes 2025, Aishwarya was seen flaunting a verse from the Bhagavad Gita on her back for her second appearance there.
On Thursday, Aishwarya made heads turn in a dazzling black gown by designer Gaurav Gupta, which she paired with a champagne gold shawl-cape and wavy hair. As she sashayed down the red carpet, the paparazzi, who have been covering her at Cannes for over two decades now, went berserk, and the actress made sure to oblige their cameras with her best angles.
It was then that eagle-eyed fans spotted a verse from the Gita embroidered on her cape in the back. "Karmanye vadhikaraste Ma Phaleshu Kadachana, Ma Karmaphalaheturbhurma Te Sangostvakarmani," the verse read.
What does the Bhagavad Gita verse mean?
As per the Gita, the verse means: "You have the right to work only but never to its fruits. Let not the fruits of action be your motive, nor let your attachment be to inaction."
Aishwarya charmed the paps and fans with her poise as she posed with Cara Delevingne and Helen Mirre on the red carpet before attending the premiere of La Venue de L’avenir (Colors of Time).

Prior to reaching the red carpet, Aishwarya was seen sharing an adorable moment with her daughter Aaradhya, who has accompanied her to the French Riviera, just like every year.
Earlier, Aishwarya left everyone awestruck with her first look at Cannes 2025, for which she wore an ivory saree with ruby jewellery, exuding royalty to its fullest. She also sported a thick layer of sindoor on her forehead, and many called it her way of shutting the rumours of her troubled marriage with Abhishek Bachchan once and for all.
