Actor Jonathan Joss Dies In Shooting Outside His Texas House After Verbal Altercation; Suspect Arrested

Jonathan Joss, best known for voicing John Redcorn on the animated series King of the Hill, died at the age of 59 following a fatal shooting in San Antonio. According to media reports, police confirmed that officers were dispatched to a shooting in progress around 7 pm on Sunday (June 1). Upon arrival, they found Joss lying near the road, having suffered multiple gunshot wounds.

Despite officers administering life-saving measures until medics arrived, Joss was pronounced dead at the scene.

Reportedly, the suspect fled the scene in a vehicle but was apprehended just a block away.

According to TMZ, the 59-year-old actor was involved in a verbal altercation with the suspect, identified as 37-year-old Sigfredo Alvarez-Cega, when the confrontation turned violent.

The report stated that according to the San Antonio Police Department and eyewitness accounts, Alvarez-Cega drew a firearm during the dispute and shot Joss multiple times. After the shooting, the suspect fled the scene in a vehicle, triggering a citywide manhunt.

Officers received a detailed description of Alvarez-Cega's vehicle and located him just a block from the scene shortly after the shooting. He was taken into custody without incident and has since been charged with murder. His bond has been set at $200,000 (Rs 1.7 crore).

Joss' voice became iconic through his portrayal of John Redcorn, a recurring character on King of the Hill from Season 2 through Season 13. He took over the role after the original voice actor, Victor Aaron, passed away in a car accident in 1996. Joss had reportedly already recorded his lines for the upcoming revival of the hit series.

Beyond King of the Hill, Joss appeared in several notable television and film projects, including Parks and Recreation, Tulsa King, Ray Donovan, True Grit, and The Magnificent Seven.
