Union Budget 2025: 75,000 Medical Seats To Be Added Over Next Five Years
As part of a larger plan to create 75,000 seats over the next five years, 10,000 more seats will be added to medical colleges and hospitals in the upcoming year to further enhance the healthcare infrastructure.

Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman delivered the Union Budget 2025-26 today, marking her eighth budget presentation. Significant funding and measures to improve research, education, and skill development in India were among the main highlights.
Medical sector
The Finance Minister emphasized the government's emphasis on growing medical education, pointing out that there has been a 130% rise in undergraduate and graduate medical seats over the last ten years, totaling close to 1.1 lakh. As part of a larger plan to create 75,000 seats over the next five years, 10,000 more seats will be added to medical colleges and hospitals in the upcoming year to further enhance the healthcare infrastructure.
