A massive digital protest is sweeping across India as railway job aspirants demand reforms in the Indian Railways recruitment process. Lakhs of students under the trending hashtag #Railway_Reform took to social media platforms such as X (formerly Twitter) and expressed outrage at delayed recruitment, non-transparency, and consistent result postponement for big examinations like RRB NTPC and Group D. Students have been campaigning on social media since July 4.
The movement gained momentum after prominent educators, including Khan Sir, Rakesh Yadav Sir, urged students to peacefully raise their voices online, highlighting how repeated delays and unclear recruitment timelines have left thousands of candidates in limbo. Many aspirants report increased mental stress and disrupted career plans due to the uncertainty.
According to educator Rakesh Yadav, for too long, the RRB’s erratic calendar—delaying exams like ALP (2018), NTPC (2019), and Group-D (2018), with recent NTPC CBT-1 set for August 7–September 8, 2025—has shattered dreams. With 12 million applications vying for just 11,558 NTPC 2025 posts, the struggle is real.
The 5 Key Demands of Railway Aspirants
Transparent and Fixed Recruitment Calendar: Candidates desire a well-defined, time-bound recruitment calendar for all railway examinations, including timely release of results, document verification, and appointment processes
Immediate Action on Pending Vacancies: They demand swift resolution of long-pending recruitment processes.
Issuance of waiting list: Students want early issuance of waiting lists for all recruitment phases in order to provide a fair opportunity and avoid uncertainty
Improvement of exam centers: Demands for improved management and accessibility of exam centers, covering issues such as far-off locations and poor facilities
Strict Action Against Recruitment Irregularities: Candidates are calling for a zero-tolerance policy towards exam malpractices, encompassing open investigations and accountability for all malpractices or scams.

"Millions of students are demanding #Railway_Reform from the government to ensure a transparent and efficient recruitment process," said one educator. "Their demands are clear and justified: release an annual recruitment calendar, increase Group D vacancies, announce a waiting list, provide exam centers near students' homes, and take strict action against fraud or irregularities. The government must take these concerns seriously."
