In a significant education policy decision, Maharashtra's government will implement the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) curriculum beginning in the 2025-26 academic year. The effort aims to strengthen state education to meet national standards.
Official Announcement and Approval
Citing the legislation, State Education Minister Dada Bhuse told the legislative council that the steering committee of the School Education Department has given its approval to adopt the CBSE curriculum framework for classes 3 to 12. This move demonstrates the government's dedication to enhancing education across the state.
Curriculum Transition and Language Accessibility
The existing scheme will have textbooks in Marathi, so that language does not become a hurdle for students resettling to the new scheme. This method highlights the commitment of the government towards open access to education.
Academic Calendar Alignment
Along with the curriculum changes, the academic year will start from April 1, same as the CBSE schedule. This synchronization would facilitate the administrative work while allowing uniformity in the academic calendar.
