JEE Main 2025 Session 2: A JEE Mains candidate in Nagpur was denied entry to the exam center due to being one minute late, caused by a severe thunderstorm. A JEE Mains Session 2 candidate shared a distressing experience of being denied entry to the exam center in a Reddit post due to a mere one-minute delay caused by an extreme thunderstorm.
The candidate, who had left out an hour in advance for his exam, reached the center at 2:28 PM, only three minutes before the gate was to be closed. However a strong thunderstorm soaked the candidate, and there were unforeseen delays due to waterlogging, traffic jams, and road construction. Despite the efforts to wipe off and rush to the gate, they were denied entry at 2:31 PM, as per the Reddit post.
"It’s extremely frustrating and unfair that my future is being impacted due to circumstances completely out of my control," the user, who shared their story on Reddit, said. "I even emailed NTA immediately and tried calling their helpline, but no one answered. After waiting for a long time, I was just told to go home."
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) had issued a thunderstorm alert for Nagpur on that very day, highlighting the severity of the weather conditions. Despite the candidate’s best efforts to explain their situation, including spending time outside the exam center to write an email and trying to seek assistance, they were still not allowed to sit for the exam.
The Reddit user has now formally requested NTA to allow them to take the exam on either April 7th or 8th, when the JEE Mains will be held again.
Netizens' Reaction
One Reddit user commented, "Seriously bro, no one is responsible agar aap late pahunch rhe ho to. Aur ab NTA ko order krre ki exam hi reschedule krde, waah. 1 min ho ya 10 min, you should be careful."
Another user pointed out the importance of being proactive in such situations: "Bhai jab pta hai thunderstorm aa raha hai ya Mausam kharab hai toh aur jaldi nikalna chaiye tha. Jan session mai mera centre 13 km dur tha fir bhi mai 1 pm par nikal gaya tha aur gate ke ander jaa kar bhi toh wipe kar sakta tha."
A third user, focusing on the high stakes of the exam, shared their perspective: "Brother when an exam decides your entire life and career, you gotta be more careful. You can't do shit right now, I'm sorry, focus on Adv if cutoff cleared, or else MHT CET ya BITSAT."
Another user said, "If 8:30 is the gate closing time, you should reach at least by 8 AM. When you were much aware that weather conditions were so bad, why haven't you taken extra time at hand and reached? Please value time. It's your fault completely."
