Foreign nationals are candidates who are not citizens of India, either by birth or by naturalisation. These applicants are eligible to apply for up to 10% of the seats in each semester due to a specific arrangement. The quota categories for Indian students, such as those for economically disadvantaged sectors or different caste groupings, are not available to foreign nationals, and there are no reserved places for female foreign nationals.
Furthermore, candidates who have Persons of Indian Origin (PIO) or Overseas Citizenship of India (OCI) cards obtained prior to March 4, 2021, have two choices for their application: they can apply as Indian citizens on the same terms as Indian students, or they can apply as foreign nationals.
