HSNC University Launches India’s First University-certified Inclusive Life & Career Skills Program for Neurodivergent Learners

In a landmark move towards inclusive higher education, Hyderabad Sind National Collegiate University (HSNC University), Mumbai, a State Public University, has launched InclusivEd, India’s first University-certified Certificate and Diploma Program in Applied Life & Career Skills specifically designed for neurodivergent adults who learn differently.
Developed in collaboration with Skill Shakti Community (SSC), a pioneering parent-led learning organisation, InclusivEd is a bold, human-centric response to the gaps in India’s mainstream educational framework. Aligned with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, the program offers a high-support, self-paced learning experience structured around real-world skills such as digital literacy, financial independence, communication and micro-entrepreneurship.
The launch event, held at HSNC University’s Worli campus, was attended by educators, changemakers, families students and leaders in the inclusion space. “InclusivEd is not just a program; it is a promise to every learner that their potential matters, their learning style is valid and they deserve a place in the mainstream, with dignity and purpose,” said Col. Dr. Hemlata K. Bagla, Vice Chancellor of HSNC University.
“As educators, we must ask: Who gets left behind in the race for excellence? InclusivEd challenges this by redefining what excellence looks like…sometimes quiet, sometimes scaffolded, but always worthy of recognition. At HSNC University, we believe excellence wears many faces, InclusivEd is our promise to make education accessible, adaptable and deeply human,” Dr. Bagla emphasised.
InclusivEd features a 1:4 student–mentor ratio, project-based learning, and modules in expressive arts, professional behavior, executive functioning, and digital tools including Google Suite, Canva, Instagram, LinkedIn and ChatGPT. Learners are supported through real-world internships with inclusive employers such as Deloitte India, Taj Group and Autocar India, with advanced tracks available through the InclusivEd Co-Lab for business growth and global certifications.
The highlight of the launch event was the inspiring participation of 11 neurodivergent learners, who confidently took the stage to present their journeys, creative work and aspirations. Each presentation was a powerful reflection of the learners’ individuality, growth and potential. Their presence powerfully embodied the spirit of InclusivEd, a program built not just for them, but with them. From showcasing digital portfolios and micro-business concepts to performing in expressive arts segments, the learners demonstrated the very skills the program cultivates: confidence, communication, creativity and self-advocacy. Their presentations served as a live testament to what becomes possible when inclusion moves beyond policy into meaningful, visible practice. Dr. Bagla personally praised each learner for their courage, creativity, and commitment. In a heartfelt moment that resonated with the entire audience, Dr. Bagla felicitated all 11 learners, recognising them as trailblazers of a new era in inclusive education.”Each of you is a shining example of what happens when we create space for talent to bloom,”she said.“You haven’t just participated in this launch, you’ve defined its purpose.”
The segment served as a live, powerful illustration of what InclusivEd stands for, a celebration of diverse abilities and a commitment to making learning both visible and valuable for all.
Speaking at the launch, Dr. Maya Shahani, Trustee of the HSNC Board, remarked: “InclusivEd is a beautiful blend of heart and structure. It doesn’t just prepare learners for jobs, it prepares them for life, helping them thrive as contributors, creators and citizens.”
Sangitaa Advani, Co-Founder and Director of Skill Shakti Community, added “We’ve always believed education should adapt to the learner, not the other way around. InclusivEd embodies that belief. It’s a living, breathing system of support, rigour and care.”
Eligibility is open to adults (16+) with learning differences such as Autism, ADHD, Dyslexia, Down Syndrome, and Intellectual Disabilities. Applicants must be functionally literate, reasonably self-managed, and able to participate in a diverse peer group within a supportive environment.
With its six-month pilot phase underway and plans to scale nationally by 2026, InclusivEd positions HSNC University as a leader in inclusive higher education in India. The InclusivEd Co-Lab will be the next-step track for advanced learners after their diploma, to deepen their skills, build real pathways and continue learning in a structured, purpose-driven environment. The program aims to build global academic partnerships with institutions like Yale, Harvard and Imperial College London, further enriching its vision of aspirational, dignity-driven education for all.
