Gujarat: In a shocking incident reported from Munjiyasar Primary School in Bagasara of Gujarat's Amreli district, around 25 students of class five to eight had blade-mark injuries on their hands. The injuries have been obtained as a result of a game of 'Truth and Dare' played by them.

Things got worse when a seventh standard student challenged peers to self-inflict cuts on their own hand using blades of pencil sharpeners, offering ₹10 in return and those unwilling to do so had to pay ₹5. This resulted in multiple injuries among students.

The teachers found the bruises and encouraged students to say they had fallen while playing. But worried parents detected the wounds and, unhappy with the school's explanations, raised the issue with the village panchayat and called the police, as reported by AajTak Hindi.

According to the AajTak Hindi, Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Jayveer Gadhvi was assigned to investigate the incident. He reviewed CCTV footage and also questioned the students. He affirmed that the injuries were not influenced by online gaming, but rather the 'Truth and Dare' game. The matter has been reported to the District Primary Education Officer (DPEO) for necessary action.

The incident highlights the need for better supervision and understanding of the risks of peer pressure among students. This requires that educational authorities adopt preventive strategies to safeguard the welfare of students.
