The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) is likely to publish the announcement for the Central Teacher Eligibility Test (CTET) 2025 soon on its official website, ctet.nic.in. The CTET certificate can be used to apply for a number of teaching positions at different public and private schools and is valid for life after completion.
CTET 2025: Exam pattern
The CTET exam is broken into two papers. Paper I is intended for applicants wishing to teach Classes I through V, while Paper II is intended for those wishing to teach Classes VI through VIII. There are 150 multiple-choice questions on each exam, and there is no negative grading.
Paper I of the test covers Child Development and Pedagogy, Language I and Language II, Mathematics, and Environmental Studies, whereas Paper II covers the same subjects, Language I and Language II, Mathematics, and Social Studies or Science.
CTET 2025: Eligibility criteria
The eligibility criteria are as follows:
1. Classes I–V (Paper I): Aspirants must have finished or be in the final year of a two-year Diploma in Elementary Education (D.El.Ed) or similar program, as well as fulfil the required Class 12 marks.

2. Classes VI–VIII (Paper II): A bachelor's degree, including a two-year B.Ed., a four-year integrated B.A./B.Sc.Ed, or a B.A.Ed/B.Sc.Ed, it is necessary.
3. NCTE laws and institution-specific recruitment standards, such as KVS or NVS, guide eligibility criteria.
4. There is no higher age limit for taking the CTET.
How to apply for the CTET exam 2025?
Eligible and interested applicants can sign up online for the CTET December 2025 exam in the following ways:
Step 1: Visit the official website of CTET at ctet.nic.in.
Step 2: On the homepage, click on the “Apply for CTET 2025” link.
Step 3: Next, finish the registration process with personal and academic details.
Step 4: After this, candidates need to choose an exam centre, paper (I or II, or both), and preferred language, and upload recent passport-size photographs and signature as per the format.
Step 5: Make the payment of (General/OBC: ₹1,000 for one paper, ₹1,200 for both; SC/ST/PwD: ₹500 for one paper, ₹600 for both).
Step 6: Download the confirmation page and take a printout of the same for further reference.
Note: The exam, which is administered twice a year, evaluates candidates' teaching abilities for grades I-VIII. The specific dates for the 2025 cycle have yet to be established; however, reports indicate that the exam could take place in July or December.
