Tata Motors Records Growth In CV Sales, EV Segment Achieves All-Time High In July 2025

Mumbai: Tata Motors Limited reported total global sales of 69,131 units in July 2025, slightly lower than 71,996 units sold in July 2024. While overall numbers dipped 3.9 percent year-on-year, the company posted solid growth in the commercial vehicle (CV) and electric vehicle (EV) segments.

Commercial Vehicles Show Strength

Tata's total CV sales rose 7 percent to 28,956 units, up from 27,042 a year ago. Key contributors included:

Intermediate and Light Commercial Vehicles (ILMCV): up 17 percent

HCV Trucks: up 4 percent

Passenger carriers: up 7 percent

The domestic CV sales stood at 26,432 units, while international CV business rose sharply by 57 percent to 2,524 units.

Sales of MH&ICV (Medium & Heavy Commercial Vehicles) also improved. Domestic MH&ICV sales reached 12,387 units, and combined domestic and international sales stood at 13,669 units, up from 11,886 in July 2024.

EV Sales Hit New High

Tata’s electric vehicle business posted a remarkable 42 percent growth, with 7,124 EVs sold, marking the highest-ever monthly EV sales. This reflects Tata’s ongoing progress in its zero-emission vehicle journey.

Passenger Vehicles Decline

However, passenger vehicle (PV) sales, including EVs, dropped 11 percent to 40,175 units, impacted by a 12 percent decline in domestic PV sales. International PV sales rose by 186 percent, but the lower domestic numbers weighed on the overall PV segment.
