The government has credited money to the bank accounts of farmers as part of the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana (PM-Kisan). This announcement came after a long wait. The 20th instalment of ₹2,000 has been credited to farmers' bank accounts today.
The Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare shared the update on its official handle (X, formerly Twitter), saying the instalment will reach directly into farmers’ accounts from Varanasi.
The PM-Kisan scheme gives Rs 6,000 per year in three installments of Rs 2,000 each to eligible farmers. This helps farmers with farming costs and household expenses. So far, over 9.8 crore farmers have benefited from the 19 earlier installments.
This 20th installment is also important because e-KYC, Aadhaar, and bank account linking are now mandatory to prevent fraud and ensure that only the right farmers receive the money.
