Mumbai: The Maharashtra cabinet has approved a new electric vehicle policy, Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis said on Tuesday. The new Maharashtra EV policy aims to boost manufacturing and consumption of electric vehicles with an emphasis on growing the charging infrastructure, Fadnavis said.
The Maharashtra government has approved a revised Electric Vehicle (EV) Policy aimed at accelerating the state's transition to cleaner transportation. Under the new policy, passenger EVs will receive increased subsidies, making them more affordable for individual buyers and promoting widespread adoption. In a move to further incentivize electric mobility, the government has also announced toll fee exemptions for select EV categories across the state.
These steps are part of a broader effort to cut down vehicular emissions, boost green mobility infrastructure, and position Maharashtra as a leading state in sustainable transport.
This move is part of Maharashtra’s broader efforts to become a leading EV hub in India, with the state targeting substantial reductions in vehicular emissions and fossil fuel dependency. The cabinet’s decision, as reported by CNBC-TV18, comes at a time when global EV interest in India is gaining momentum.
