Washington: On Friday, US President Donald Trump said he wants iPhones to be made in the United States, not in other countries like India. He warned Apple that if they don’t move their iPhone production to the U.S., he will put a 25 per cent tax on all iPhones brought into the country. This could make iPhones more expensive for American buyers.

Trump shared this message on his social media platform, Truth Social. He said he had already told Apple’s CEO, Tim Cook, about his plan. Trump said that iPhones sold in the U.S. should also be made in the U.S. If not, Apple will have to pay the big tax.

Right now, Apple makes many of its iPhones in China and India. The company has been moving some production to India to avoid problems from U.S.-China trade issues. But this move has upset Trump, who wants more products to be made in America to help American jobs.

Trump has also targeted other big companies like Amazon and Walmart with similar demands. He believes that bringing manufacturing back to the U.S. will help the country’s economy. However, experts say a big tax like this could hurt Apple’s sales and raise prices for customers.

Apple has not yet given a public reply to Trump’s latest comments. The company might have to think again about its supply plans if the tax becomes real.

For now, the situation is still developing, and both Apple and U.S. customers are waiting to see what happens next.
