Banks To Remain Closed For Three Consecutive Days Till August 17
Banks across the country will remain closed on the occasion of India's 79th Independence Day. Janmashtami and Parsi New Year (Shahanshahi) will also be celebrated in some states.

Banks will remain closed for three consecutive days till August 2025. There are two major festivals on August 15, the first of which is Janmashtami and the second is Independence Day. Meanwhile, in many states, the festival of Janmashtami will be celebrated on Saturday (August 16, 2025), due to which many regional branches may remain closed. After this, finally, August 17 is a Sunday. There are 15 holidays in August.

Banks will remain closed in some cities due to Janmashtami (Shravan Vad-8) and Krishna Jayanti. These include Aizawl (Mizoram), Ahmedabad (Gujarat), Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh), Ranchi (Jharkhand), Chennai (Tamil Nadu), Chandigarh (UT), Gangtok (Sikkim), Dehradun (Uttarakhand), Hyderabad (Telangana), Kanpur and Lucknow (Uttar Pradesh), Jaipur (Rajasthan), Patna (Bihar), Shillong (Meghalaya), Raipur (Chhattisgarh), Jammu and Srinagar (Jammu and Kashmir) and Vijayawada (Andhra Pradesh).

Banks will remain closed for 3 days due to a national festival, a local religious festival and weekend. Services like cheque clearance, consultation and NEFT/RTGS transfers will remain suspended while the branches are closed. However, national holidays do not have any impact on online or mobile banking services. Meanwhile, ATMs are available for cash in case of emergency and UPI and apps will continue to function normally. One needs to complete banking transactions like cash withdrawal, check deposit and fund transfer by August 14.
