Flipspaces Is Transforming Commercial Interior Design with VR and Technology
Commercial interior design is no longer just about aesthetics—it’s about immersive experiences and seamless execution. Kunal Sharma tells us how Flipspaces is using virtual reality and digital tools to reshape how workspaces are imagined and built.

Office spaces are undergoing a fundamental transformation, and Flipspaces is at the forefront of this shift. By blending technology with design and execution, the company is changing how commercial interiors are visualised and delivered. In this conversation with BrandSutra, Kunal Sharma, Founder and CEO of Flipspaces, discusses how the company identified key industry pain points and scaled a global platform rooted in virtual reality, data integration, and a digitally managed supply chain.
Edited excerpts…
What was the gap you set out to address with Flipspaces?
The commercial interior design industry has, for the longest time, operated in silos—fragmented execution, vague costing and little to no visibility into the final outcome before the build begins.
At Flipspaces, we saw this not just as a challenge, but as a clear opportunity. We set out to create a unified platform—one where design, technology and execution come together seamlessly.
Our goal was simple: to give clients clarity, control and confidence. With our virtual reality-led experience, they can walk through their future space before a single brick is laid. It changes everything—from decision-making to delivery. Not just design, but our technology is backward integrated with our global supply chain platform which hosts over two lakh inventory of deeply price-discovered interior products. This solves the problem of price, fulfilment and quality all at once.
The technology is further developed to cater to the project execution phase as well, where it allows remote virtual monitoring to keep close tabs on the site’s progress, from anywhere in the world.
How does a typical Flipspaces contract work?
Every project at Flipspaces begins with listening—understanding the client’s functional needs, design intent, and what the space truly needs to deliver. Our team of over 100 designers and architects then brings that vision to life through immersive 3D walkthroughs using our proprietary VR platform.
Once the design is aligned, we transition into execution—procurement and build—seamlessly managed through our digital interface. With more than 300 Project Management Consultancy (PMC) and site operations professionals, we bring deep domain expertise to the table.
Clients get complete visibility: real-time progress updates, cost tracking, and milestone-based reporting. It’s where creativity meets control—ensuring the process feels as seamless as the outcome looks.
What impact does VR-based visualisation have on client decisions?
Traditionally, clients were expected to make decisions based on 2D layouts and mood boards—leaving much to the imagination. With VR, that gap disappears. They can now walk through their future space—experience the lighting, materials, layout, and design flow in real time.
It brings clarity early in the process, reduces back-and-forth, and most importantly, builds confidence from day one. In complex layered hierarchies on the client’s end, the design technology helps navigate diverse perspectives and arrive at consensus faster.
Who is your target audience?
We started with fast-growing startups and SMEs. Today, we cater to enterprise clients, coworking and managed space operators, retail chains, HORECA, and education institutes.
As workspaces evolved post-pandemic, so has our clientele. Many are now looking for flexible, tech-first, and aesthetically aligned office solutions, which is our sweet spot. It is also notable that we drive maximum business via repeat and referral, demonstrating strong brand affinity and client love.
Tell us about projects you are most proud of.
TCS (Tata Consultancy Services), one of the largest IT giants, and Bharat Financial Inclusion Limited (a 100% subsidiary of IndusInd Bank) remain personal favourites—spaces we crafted to reflect agility, vibrancy, and a deeply collaborative spirit.
We’ve also had the privilege of designing and delivering offices for Lightstorm, BSH, NoBroker, OpenMoney, and Quantiphi. Each of these projects came with its own set of creative and operational challenges and reaffirmed how scalable, adaptable, and consistent our model truly is.
What challenges have you faced while scaling a tech-enabled design business?
Adoption was one of our biggest hurdles. Convincing clients to embrace technology in an industry built on relationships and legacy systems took time and trust.
Internally, scaling demanded a culture of continuous learning. Externally, it meant consistently communicating the value of our model. Managing supply chains, building cross-functional teams, and ensuring consistent quality across geographies weren’t easy—but each challenge became a catalyst for growth, refinement and resilience.
How do you position Flipspaces in such a competitive market?
We position Flipspaces as a design-tech company with a strong execution backbone. Our differentiation isn’t just in how we design, but in how we deliver—from visualisation to final handover.
What sets us apart is the end-to-end control we offer, powered by virtual reality and our digital ecosystem. Our narrative is simple: see it before you build it—and build it with confidence.
What have been your top three learnings from along your journey building Flipspaces?
First, technology must solve real human problems—it’s only as powerful as the value it creates. Second, execution quality is a direct outcome of team culture—alignment, ownership, and intent matter. And third, trust and transparency are the foundation of every lasting client relationship. These lessons have shaped not just how we operate, but who we choose to be as a company.
What’s next for Flipspaces?
Our focus now is on global expansion, strengthening our tech stack, and building a product ecosystem that reimagines the entire commercial design lifecycle. The vision is ambitious, but we truly believe that when design and technology come together meaningfully, they have the power to reshape how the world works—quite literally.
