Jabalpur (Madhya Pradesh): A notorious criminal was arrested on Wednesday by Jabalpur’s Ranjhi police for threatening people and extorting money from them through violence.
The accused was identified as Praveen Rajak, a resident of Shobhapur. After his arrest, the police took him to the very spot where he used to assault locals and collect money through fear and violence.
Here, police made him apologise to the victims with folded hands and made him promise to stop such illegal activities.
On July 6, Praveen Rajak went to the office of a local resident, Nishant Singh, and demanded money, along with his accomplice Debu Anna. When Nishant refused, the duo created chaos and vandalised the office using rocks.
However, Praveen was caught and Debu Anna is still on the run. Police are actively searching for him at present.
Over Two Dozen Criminal Cases Registered
Praveen Rajak, 25, is involved in more than two dozen criminal cases, including assault, extortion, and illegal activities involving alcohol. For a long time, he terrorised residents in Shobhapur and New Shobhapur.
He used to beat people, snatch money, and threaten them with knives. Whenever someone filed a police complaint against him, he went absconding.
On July 6, he once again caused panic in the area after being denied money. He and his partner vandalised Nishant Singh’s office and fled the scene before the police arrived.
After his arrest, Ranjhi Police took him around the area in a public march, showing locals that he had been caught. He was then brought to the exact place where he used to carry out his crimes. In front of the public and local shopkeepers, Praveen joined his hands and apologised, promising to give up his life of crime.
