Chhatarpur (Madhya Pradesh): Even as grand visions are painted of a rising India, the reality in parts of Chhatarpur district tells a starkly different story. In Majra Chaudhary Ka Purwa, a village under Muderi village panchayat in Lavkushnagar, teachers and children risk their lives every day just to reach school a situation all the more alarming as this falls within the constituency of minister of state and Chandla MLA Dilip Ahirwar.
Located 12 kilometers from Lavkush Nagar, the village becomes virtually inaccessible during the rainy season. The muddy road and overflowing drains turn the route into a swamp.

Teachers Varsha Adivasi and Nispriya Nagar, who commute daily from Lavkush Nagar, are forced to leave their vehicles 3- 4 kilometres away and then wade through waist-deep water to reach the school. A drain just 200 metres before the school overflows regularly, and at times has to be crossed by swimming.
The ordeal doesn’t end with the journey. The school has just one room where children from Class 1 to 5 are crammed together. Teaching materials, old books, and supplies clutter the room, leaving little space for a conducive learning environment.
This dismal condition raises serious questions about the priorities of elected representatives. If such neglect exists in the minister’s own area, it reflects poorly on the state of rural education.
