Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): The civil services preliminary examination conducted by Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) was held in Bhopal, Indore, Gwalior and Jabalpur in two shifts in offline mode.
About 60% candidates took the exam at 50 centres in the state capital. Out of 15941 candidates in Bhopal, 9,593 (60.18%) appeared in the first session and 9,494 (59.56%) appeared in the second session. Three male and two female police constables were deployed at each centre for frisking candidates.
Tehsildar, naib tehsildar and other administrative officials were authorised to send the sealed papers of the examination from the strong room of the district treasury to the centres and one police guard was sent with each official for security.

Six SDMs were appointed in the flying squad to conduct surprise inspection at each centre. Besides, 14,692 candidates appeared at 36 examination centres in Indore and 8,509 at 30 centres in Gwalior.
Vishnu Ahirwar from Sagar said that the examination was good. “I have solved 80 plus questions. Current affairs section was tough. Most questions were asked from sports like chess player D Gukesh, kho-kho world championship and Gandhi Shanti Puraskar,” he said. “Paper was easy in comparison to last year. I have solved 60 plus questions,” said Rumana from Bengaluru.
