Guna (Madhya Pradesh): Two men lost their lives while digging murum (a type of soil) near a pond in Guna on Saturday.

The accident occurred in Guna's Fatehgarh area. It happened when the soil from the pond’s side suddenly collapsed and fell on them. Both were buried under around three feet of soil.

Villagers helped to take them out, but by then, both had died.

According to information, Sanjesh Dhakad, who lived in Kalora village in Fatehgarh, and Gurjeet Sahariya from Rabadi village, had gone to the village pond to dig murum.

They were using tools like spades and pickaxes. While they were digging, a big part of the pond’s side broke and fell on them, burying both under the soil.

Sanjesh’s brother Makhan said that he had talked to Sanjesh during the day. When Makhan asked when he would return, Sanjesh said he would come soon.

Later in the evening, Makhan tried calling again, but the call did not connect.

Worried, Makhan went to the pond to check. When he reached, he could not see his brother. He noticed a large pile of soil in one spot, which made him suspicious.

Makhan informed the villagers, and many people came to the spot to help. They started removing the soil and found Sanjesh and Gurjeet buried about three feet below.

Both were taken to the district hospital, where doctors declared them dead.

The bodies have been kept in the mortuary for post-mortem.
