The strange act was caught on CCTV and which is circulating widely on social media.
In the video, the thief can be seen entering the temple and bowing five times in front of the idol. He then broke the donation box, took out the money, and before running away, bowed five more times.

According to information, the incident happened at night in Hanuman Temple, located inside Chaudhary Market at Sunahrai Sarafa Bazaar, under the Kotwali police station.
The full act was recorded in a 1-minute 5-second video. The temple priest filed a police complaint after noticing the theft.
Additional SP Suryakant Sharma said that police are trying to identify the thief using the CCTV footage. He said the thief showed devotion but still broke the law, which is both shocking and strange.
The incident has created concern among local shopkeepers in the Sarafa market, especially those dealing in gold and silver.
Police are now checking nearby CCTV footage to catch the thief soon.
