Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): Close on the heels of the Supreme Court asking MP Cabinet Minister Kunwar Vijay Shah to apologise in the high court for his controversial statement against Colonel Sofiya Qureshi, the army officer who briefed the media about Operation Sindoor, her kin spoke up on Thursday.
Condemning Shah’s statement, which he claimed later to have been taken out of context, Col Qureshi’s Naugaon-based uncle and cousin have demanded that the Prime Minister, the Union Home Minister, and the Defence Minister take action against the minister.
Cousin Bunty Suleman said, “Minister Vijay Shah's statement is condemnable. This statement is not forgivable. Sofiya is the daughter of our country. She is the daughter of the Army, she has given her life for the country.
I demand that Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, and Defence Minister Rajnath Singh remove Vijay Shah from his post. Take action against him.”

Suleman added, “BJP leaders came to our house and spoke about taking action over the minister's statement. The Government of India will take action. BJP leader Bhanwar Raja and the party district president came to our house and told us that Sofiya is not only our daughter, but the daughter of the country.”
Meanwhile, BJP state president V.D. Sharma and Naugaon BJP District President Chandrabhan Singhvisited Col Qureshi's uncle, assuring him that the central and state leadership has taken cognizance of the minister's statement.
