Murder Plan Reversed! ASI Shoots Criminal Brother Dead Years After Finding Out Latter’s Plan To Kill Him In MP’s Shivpuri

Shivpuri (Madhya Pradesh): A man was allegedly shot dead in Shivpuri district by his own ASI brother, police said on Monday.

The victim, Ajay Tomar, was gunned down in a planned attack on July 23, masterminded by his brother Bhanu Tomar, who serves as an Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) in Indore Police.

Ajay had a criminal past—he had shot and killed his father, Inspector Hanuman Tomar, in 2017 and had also tried to kill his younger brother Bhanu, who is now accused of planning his murder.

Police said that after planning the murder, Bhanu himself performed his brother’s last rites to avoid suspicion. Just three days later, he fled the country and went to Bangkok.

Police have arrested three people involved in the case: shooter Dharmendra Kushwah, accomplice Monesh Tomar, and a minor girl who helped trap Ajay.

Bhanu is currently absconding, and police are now trying to find him with international help.

Ajay killed their father

In 2017, Ajay had shot and killed their father, police inspector Hanuman Tomar, and also attacked Bhanu during the same incident. He was sentenced to life imprisonment and was in Gwalior Central Jail. On July 14, 2025, he was released on parole.

According to information, on July 23, Ajay was travelling from Shivpuri to Gwalior with a girl he had recently met. She asked to stop near a deserted area at Nayagaon Tiraha, pretending to need a washroom.

That’s when Bhanu and Dharmendra arrived and shot Ajay multiple times. He died on the spot.

Police said Bhanu paid ₹1 lakh to hire Dharmendra, who has a criminal past. The minor girl involved had earlier escaped from a correction home in Indore and was a co-accused in a gangrape case.

During questioning, Dharmendra confessed and handed over the country-made pistol (315 bore) used in the crime, along with a ring.

The case was cracked by a special team led by Shivpuri SP Aman Singh Rathore. A lookout circular has been initiated against Bhanu Tomar.

Authorities are working to seize his passport, issue immigration alerts, and contact the Ministry of External Affairs to bring him back to India.
