Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): State Home Minister and BJP candidate from Datia, Narottam Mishra has once again landed himself in a controversy. A video is going viral on social media where Mishra can be heard using inappropriate language for legendary Bollywood actress and BJP Lok Sabha member Hema Malini.
Notably, Mishra was listing the BJP government's development works while addressing a public gathering in his constituency Datia, when he said, "Cultural programme se le kar...Humne to Heme Malini ko bhi nachwa diya," (Several cultural events were held and we even made Hema Malini dance).
The video has been widely circulated on the social media. Several users have expressed displeasure over the "sexist" comment by the state home minister.
Congress Hits Out
Several opposition party leaders have criticised Mishra's statement. Reposting the video clip on X (Ex-Twitter), former chief minister and senior Congress leader Digvijaya Singh have accused Mishra of disrespecting the women by making such ‘petty’ comments.
Taking to X (formerly Twitter), Digvijaya Singh wrote, “Listen to the actual pettiness of cultured BJP’s respected minister for women. He did not even spare the leader of his own party.” Bollywood actress Hema Malini has been a BJP Lok Sabha member from Mathura since 2014.
Meanwhile, Home Minister Mishra is set to fight the Madhya Pradesh assembly polls from Datia for the fourth time.
