MP Updates: Namibian Cheetah Pawan Dies In Kuno National Park, Body Found Half- Immersed In Overflowing Sewage Pit

Sheopur (Madhya Pradesh): Namibian Cheetah Pawan died at Kuno National Park in Madhya Pradesh on Tuesday. The official statement released by the Kuno National Park mentions the preliminary reason for death as 'drowning.'

His body was half-immersed in an overflowing 'nala' (sewage pit).

This is 11th Cheetah fatality (including the cubs) so far here.

Notably, these Cheetahs were brought to Kuno Nation Park in two batches-- first batch of eight wild cats in September 2022 and the second batch of 12 in Feb 2023, as part of the World's biggest inter-continental translocation project.

Further details will be confirmed after the post-mortem report.

BJP's George Kurien Elected To Rajya Sabha From Madhya Pradesh

Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): Minister of State and BJP candidate George Kurien was elected to Rajya Sabha from Madhya Pradesh unopposed on Tuesday. He reached the assembly to collect a certificate from the returning officer, along with Chief Minister Mohan Yadav and State Congress President VD Sharma.

After his election to the Upper House, Kurien's thanked PM Narendra Modi and BJP leadership for showing faith in him. He also thanked Chief Minister Mohan Yadav for deciding to give Rs 20 crore to flood-hit Kerala and his home state.

BJP nominated him for the Rajya Sabha seat after it got vacated following Jyotiraditya Scindia Lok Sabha victory from Guna. Congress did not field any candidate, leading to Kurien's unopposed election.

His tenure will end in 2026.
