Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh):
Madhya Pradesh Sports Minister Vishvas Sarang slammed Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi’s allegations of ‘systematic vote theft’. He termed the opposition’s accusations of irregularities in the voters’ list an attempt to defame the Election Commission ahead of Bihar polls.

Addressing a press conference in state capital Bhopal on Wednesday, Sarang said that if the Congress party has any concrete evidence of irregularities, they should present it before the Election Commission instead of making baseless allegations.

He accused Congress of having a habit of targeting and defaming constitutional institutions, including the Election Commission, whenever things do not go in their favour.

Sarang further said that due to such repeated behaviour, the credibility of Congress has been consistently declining in the eyes of the public. He alleged that anticipating an impending defeat in the upcoming Bihar assembly elections, Congress is engaging in “mean politics” to divert attention.

Defending the Election Commission on the voter list issue, he questioned how Rahul Gandhi could have won from two constituencies and how Priyanka Gandhi could have reached Parliament if any malpractice truly existed.

According to Sarang, these examples prove that the electoral process is fair, and the Congress party is simply trying to create unnecessary controversy to cover up its political weaknesses.
