MP May 2 Weather Updates: Unseasonal Rain Hits Madhya Pradesh; IMD Issues Alert for 40 Districts Including Jabalpur, Bhind, Morena | FP Photo
Indore (Madhya Pradesh): A sudden shift in weather patterns has brought unseasonal rain, thunderstorms, and hailstorms to several parts of Madhya Pradesh. The weather department has issued rain alert in 40 districts on Saturday, citing the activation of a cyclonic circulation and a western disturbance as the main reason for the changing weather conditions.
According to the meteorological department, 7 districts including Satna, Maihar, Katni, Umaria, Shahdol, Dindori and Anuppur might witness hailstorm. Meanwhile, moderate rainfall accompanied by strong gusty wind is predicted in cities like Jabalpur, Bhind, Morena, Sheopur, Datia, Shivpuri, Guna.
Despite the rainfall in eastern part of the state, the western part is still under the effect of intense heat. On friday Ratlam recorded the maximum daytime temperature at 44.2°C, followed by Narsinghpur (43.6°C), Khandwa (43.1°C), and Khargone (43°C).
Weather in major cities
Major urban centres like Bhopal, Indore and Ujjain also reported temperatures exceeding 41°C but the mercury is predicted to fall along with moderate to heavy rainfall in the city in the next 3 days. Gwalior and Jabalpur remained cooler with strong winds and light rain.
Sudden shift in weather pattern
According to Meteorological Department, cyclonic circulation is active along with western disturbance, due to which hailstorms and rain are continuing in Madhya Pradesh.
Weather for next 2 days
4 May: Hailstorm along with moderate shower may occur in Seoni, Mandla and Balaghat.
5 May: Bhopal, Gwalior, Jabalpur, Sheopur, Morena, Bhind, Datia, Shivpuri, Guna, Ashoknagar, Vidisha, Raisen, Narmadapuram might witness drizzle along with strong and gusty wind.
