MP Man Poses As Army Officer, Rapes Woman After Befriending Her On Social Media

Jabalpur (Madhya Pradesh): A fraudulent posing as an Indian Army soldier, raped a young woman and made a video of the obscene act, Jabalpur police reported on Friday.

Not only this, he blackmailed the victim through the video and snatched a gold chain from her. After being extremely troubled, the victim informed her family about the incident and registered an FIR with the police.

Friendship through Facebook 

According  to information, the accused was identified as Ankit Meena, a resident of Digwan Jhora in Morena district. He befriended the woman on Facebook and introduced himself as an Indian Army personnel currently posted in Ambala. 

Their online friendship gradually turned into frequent conversations, and Ankit expressed his desire to marry her.

He even tried to convince the woman’s family to agree to the marriage, but when they refused, he decided to meet the woman in person. Ankit traveled to Seoni, where the woman was living, and asked her to meet him at a hotel. It was there that he allegedly raped her.

Accused sent obscene video to victim’s brother

During the assault, Ankit recorded an obscene video of the victim without her consent. He later used the video to blackmail her and forcefully took away her gold chain. To further intimidate the woman, he sent the video to her brother.

Stressed and frightened, the woman finally told everything to her family. She then approached the police and lodged a complaint against the accused.

Based on the complaint, an FIR has been registered at the Omti police station in Jabalpur under charges of rape, blackmail, and theft. The police have launched a search operation to nab Ankit Meena.

Station in-charge of Omti Police Station Rajpal Singh Baghel, confirmed the incident and stated that a case has been registered. Efforts are underway to locate and arrest the accused.
