Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a heavy to very heavy rainfall alert for 17 districts in eastern Madhya Pradesh, including regions under Jabalpur, Sagar, Rewa, and Shahdol divisions.
Parts of Gwalior-Chambal region are also expected to receive rainfall. A strong weather system is currently active over the state, causing widespread showers.
Weather expected on Thursday
A very heavy rainfall alert has been issued for Panna, Damoh, Maihar, and Katni - up to 8 inches of rainfall expected in the next 24 hours.
Heavy rainfall is likely in Sheopur, Shivpuri, Bhind, Guna, Chhindwara, Seoni, Balaghat, Mandla, Jabalpur, Dindori, Anuppur, Umaria, Shahdol, Sidhi, Mauganj, Rewa, Satna.
Also, a Yellow Alert for rainfall is expected in Bhopal, Gwalior, Indore, Ujjain, and nearby districts.
What do meteorologists say?
According to the IMD, extremely heavy rain is likely in districts like Panna, Damoh, Maihar, and Katni, with up to 8 inches of rainfall expected within 24 hours. Heavy rain warnings have also been issued for Sheopur, Shivpuri, Bhind, Guna, Chhindwara, Seoni, Balaghat, Mandla, Jabalpur, Dindori, Anuppur, Umaria, Shahdol, Sidhi, Mauganj, Rewa, and Satna.
Two trough lines are currently passing through Madhya Pradesh, including the main monsoon trough, which is intensifying rainfall across the region.
Senior Meteorologists stated that this rain spell is likely to continue for the next four days. On July 5 and 6, widespread rainfall is expected in all districts.
Water Flowing Over Roads and Bridges
Due to the strong system, thunderstorms and rain affected many areas on Wednesday. Rainfall was recorded in 27 districts, including half an inch in Shivpuri, Ujjain-Ratlam, and Nowgaon.
Other districts that experienced intermittent rainfall throughout the day include Barwani, Mauganj, Rajgarh, Neemuch, Mandsaur, Sehore, Shahdol, Betul, Bhopal, Datia, Guna, Gwalior, Narmadapuram, Indore, Sheopur, Mandla, Sagar, Satna, Sidhi, Balaghat, Shajapur, Dewas, and Agar-Malwa.
Authorities have urged residents, especially in low-lying and hilly areas, to stay alert and avoid crossing flooded roads and bridges.

Rain Expected In: Neemuch, Mandsaur, Agar-Malwa, Shajapur, Bhopal, Sehore, Narmadapuram, Narsinghpur, Raisen, Chhindwara, Katni, Maihar, Jabalpur, Umaria, Dindori, Anuppur, Singrauli, Sheopur, Shivpuri, Bhind, and several other districts.
