MP February 9 Weather Update: Cold Wave Dips Mercury; Shahdol’s Kalyanpur Shivers At 4.5° Celsius

Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): Madhya Pradesh experienced a significant drop in temperatures, with the mercury dipping below 5 degrees Celsius for the first time this February. The coldest region was Kalyanpur in Shahdol, where the temperature plummeted to 4.5 degrees Celsius. Seventeen other cities, including Bhopal, also recorded temperatures below 10 degrees Celsius, intensifying the cold wave across the state.

The ongoing cold spell is attributed to snowfall in North India, which has influenced the weather conditions in Madhya Pradesh. Over the past four days, both daytime and nighttime temperatures have witnessed a steady decline, with a sharp drop recorded on Friday and Saturday nights. Several districts, including Bhopal, Shahdol, Rajgarh, Shajapur, Umaria, Chhatarpur, Singrauli, Tikamgarh, Mandla, Raisen, Guna, Satna, Sidhi, Damoh, Rewa, and Narmadapuram, experienced intense cold conditions.

February 9: A slight chill will persist, but temperatures—both during the day and night—are expected to rise gradually.
February 10: A noticeable increase in maximum temperatures is likely, signaling the end of the intense cold spell.
Kalyanpur in Shahdol Coldest at 4.5°C
Among the coldest places, Kalyanpur in Shahdol registered the lowest temperature at 4.5 degrees Celsius. Other notable temperature readings included:

Daytime Temperatures Provide Some Relief
While the nights remained chilly, daytime temperatures saw a marginal increase on Saturday, bringing slight relief. Several cities, including Bhopal, Betul, Dhar, Guna, Gwalior, Narmadapuram, Indore, Khargone, Ratlam, Shivpuri, Ujjain, Khajuraho, Mandla, Sagar, Seoni, Tikamgarh, Umaria, and Malajkhand, recorded temperatures exceeding 27 degrees Celsius. Mandla and Ujjain recorded the highest daytime temperatures, crossing 30 degrees Celsius.
Cold winds continued to sweep across Madhya Pradesh, with wind speeds reaching 20-25 kmph in several cities. In contrast, Bhopal recorded a lower wind speed of under 10 kmph. The past two days have seen wind speeds rise to 36 kmph in some parts of the state, adding to the chill.
