Indore (Madhya Pradesh): The state is to witness a mixed weather for 2-3 days, with series of scattered thunderstorm along with severe heat.
Weather expected on Sunday
Heat wave might continue in Neemuch, Mandsaur and Ratlam. Whereas, Bhind, Datia, Niwari, Tikamgarh, Umaria, Anuppur, Dindori, Mandla, Balaghat, Seoni, Chhindwara and Pandhurna can experience drizzle.
What do meteorologists say?
According to the Meteorological Department, several districts across the state might experience intense heatwave and the mercury might range above 40°C.
The department has issued a heatwave alert in 9 districts of the state on Sunday. This includes Mandsaur, Neemuch, Guna, Ashoknagar, Shivpuri, Chhindwara, Chhatarpur, Tikamgarh and Niwari.
Light rainfall in effect
As the state scorches under intense heatwave, several parts of the state reported rainfall including Gwalior, Jabalpur, Narmadapuram.
The weather department issued a rainfall alert and predicted a change in weather in 27 districts including Chhindwara, Mandla, Balaghat and Seoni along with the districts of Jabalpur and Gwalior division.
Heatwave across the city
On Saturday, temperature breached 40°C in several districts across the state meanwhile, other areas witnessed scattered clouds and light rain. The meteorological department has issued an alert for both, intense heat and rainfall across many regions.
Khajurao in Chhatarpur recorded the maximum temperature in the state where the mercury reached 43.8°C. Other cities like Gwalior recorded 43.6°C, Naugaon (Chhatarpur) at 43°C, followed by Guna at 42.4°C.
Weather for next 2 days
28 April: Light rain is expected in Satna, Rewa, Mauganj, Sidhi, Singrauli, Maihar, Umaria, Shahdol, Anuppur, Dindori, Mandla, Balaghat, Seoni, Chhindwara and Pandhurna. Heat wave may occur in Sheopur, Neemuch, Mandsaur, Ratlam and Jhabua.
29 April: Drizzle with thunderstorms and lightning is predicted in Shahdol, Anuppur, Dindori, Mandla and Balaghat. The effect of heat will remain strong in the rest of the state.
Weather in major cities
In major urban hubs of the state, the temperature remained high. With Gwalior recording the hottest maximum of 43.6°C. Bhopal and Indore are slightly cooler, but still breaching the mark of 40.7°C and 39.7°C respectively. Jabalpur recorded 37.8°C which is slightly cooler.
