Medicos Warn People Of Conjunctivitis: Hot Weather Ideal For Spread Of Viruses And Bacteria | IANS
Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): Doctors have warned people for protection of eyes in summer as conjunctivitis, also known as pink eye increases. Symptoms include redness in the eyes, Itchiness in the eyes, discharge around the eyes in the morning, watery eyes and Irritation in the eyes.
As per doctors, prevention includes maintaining eye hygiene, avoid touching eyes or rubbing them, avoid sharing towels, napkins, handkerchiefs, bedsheets, pillows, and clothes with an infected person. Wash your hands frequently and with soap. Avoid getting into crowded places, use sunglasses to protect against UV rays and dust.
Dr Rakesh Shrivastava, civil surgeon JP Hospital, informed Free Press, ‘There is always scope of conjunctivitis in summer. This is due to a number of factors, including hot weather, allergens and close contact with others. Pollen and mold thrive in warm weather and exposure to these allergens can cause allergic conjunctivitis.
Hot weather is ideal for the spread of viruses and bacteria, which can cause conjunctivitis.’
