The solver appeared in his place and cleared the test. After the exam, Atendra replaced the photo in the Aadhaar card with his original image.
The fraud came to light during a document verification phase, triggering an investigation that ultimately led to his arrest. Authorities are probing whether other candidates also used similar methods to cheat in the examination.
When the biometric check was done during the verification of the documents, the thumb impressions were not found, which raised suspicion of foul play.
According to CSP, thumb impressions were taken twice on the biometric device at the time of the examination, due to which the record in the software got messed up.
Investigation of the documents revealed that the candidate had changed the photo in Aadhaar repeatedly by updating the biometrics. After the fraud was confirmed, a case was registered in Madhoganj police station on the complaint of Sub Inspector Hariom of 13th Battalion.
