Indore (Madhya Pradesh): Madhya Pradesh is set to deploy specially trained cyber commandos to tackle rising cyber threats and frauds from April onwards.
Just like trained military commandos are stationed to counter terrorism, these cyber commandos will work to fight digital fraudsters and scammers. The first batch of six commandos will begin operations in April.
The cyber commandos have undergone six-month training, which is supposed to conclude on March 31. This initiative is a part of Union Home Minister Amit Shah’s larger plan to deploy 5,000 cyber commandos across the country.
Second batch's training will kick off
Officials of the Police Headquarters confirmed that in the second batch, 39 policemen of the state will be sent for training. Police personnels ranging from constables to Deputy Superintendents of Police (DSP) have been shortlisted after an examination. Soon the training's location will be decided.
Responsibilities of cyber commandos
These specially deployed cyber commandoes will play a crucial role in battling cyber crimes and hoax. Their major responsibilities would be:
Cyber security: Safeguarding the data and keeping the network safe from possible cyber threats.
Protection from cyber attack: Cyber commandoes can alarm before any possible cyber threat and will ensure quick resolution to hacking attempts and virus intrusion in cyber systems.
Monitoring of the network: Cyber commandos will closely monitor the cyber system and prevent any security breach.
Work to keep data safe: Implementing measures to prevent leaks of sensitive information from key institutions.
Investigation of crimes: Assisting in investigating major cyber crimes, analyzing digital data, and aiding in cybersecurity policy formulation.
This move comes amid growing concerns over cyber frauds and hacking incidents, highlighting the need for specialized personnel to battle evolving cyber threat and make the digital space more safe
